| I
started playing drums when I was like three
years old. I grew up in a very musical
family, with my dad playing both drums and
guitar and my mom playing the keyboard.
I
also played drums for middle school &
high school bands. I was fortunate
enough to go to state competition for a
Class A snare drum solo when I was just a
freshman. Other than that, in high
school I managed to destroy the school's
drum set (heads, cymbals, sticks, etc) from
playing in the pep band.
Unfortunately, I've abused two of my own
drum sets as well. May they rest in
peace.
When
I was a senior in high school, it really hit
me that I wanted to start a band.
Music was such a big influence on my life
already that I wanted it to be my livelihood
as well. If you're going to have a
job, might as well do something you enjoy.
Right?
My
main goal in college was to start a
band...and I got extremely lucky to meet
bassist Nick Fry in my Mass Media class.
By a twist of fate, on the first day of
classes at UW-Platteville for both of us, we
sat next to each other and started talking
about bands. We started jammin, and
eventually formed Necessary Void with Eric
Walker and Dan Faherty. Fry now plays
bass for Middletown. Eric plays guitar
in his band from back home, Dosage.
And Faherty of course is playing guitar for
this band, Envy. |
